Family Vegas Blog

Hey Vegas blog readers, can it get any better than a $1 on one of our summer days of 100 degree temps?!

Okay so, I would never consider taking my {not even} 18 month old to the movie theaters if not for Regal’s Summer Movie Express event. I realize most patrons pay too much money at the theaters to be bothered by Alina’s yapping, or screaming or whatever it is Alina wants to do at any given time. I consider myself to have decent manners and would otherwise leave my prima-donna at home.

Every Tuesday and Wednesday your entire family can go see a choice of two movies for only $1/person {they didn’t charge me for Alina though}. The 9 week festival is open to kids of all ages at select Regal Cinemas, United Artists and Edwards Theaters. Check out the link to find participating theaters and movie selections in your area.

I was pretty nervous taking such a young one to the movies. They are so unpredictable! And lately, Alina has started to notice the small details in the world around her. Loud noises, fast moving objects, are all observed by this little munchkin. Generally, she keeps one eye on me at all times, gauging by my reactions if she is safe. Even still, I wasn’t totally sure how she would take to the movie-going experience.

I figured at $1, I could afford to leave early {which we did} if things started to go south. It was so cute watching Alina, with her”purssss”, hand the ticket to the employee; just like she does at the library for storytime. My girl is getting so big!

Alina’s first movie was “Tale of Despereaux”. It was either that or “Chronicles of Narnia”, so we went with the French mouse. There was a rather hilarious conversation about the movie on my Facebook page yesterday. Seems like I need to watch more kid movies.

I managed to get a couple photos inside the dark theater; a true testament to my camera. Although not at all in focus, it was the best I could do. My camera was pushed to its limit in these conditions, and it was a good thing I was able to switch to manual because the camera simply did not shoot at all in auto or AV. And in order to get Alina to sit completely still for 1/6th of a second, popcorn was required. What’s a Mom to do, right?

Alina and I had a really good time, and although she would have been happy to stay another hour, I could see the naptime meltdown approaching. She was not happy with our early departure though, as you can see here!

I hope you guys take advantage of this cool resource, especially for those families in super hot States, like Nevada!

Super cute!! I remember taking my 3 year old nephew to the the movies for the first time. He didn’t last 30 minutes. Alina looks adorable in her cute outfit and matching purse!:)

Oh, goodness, you’re brave, Mama! I’m afraid to take my 2.5 year-old to the movies – ha! One of our local theaters does this same thing (though I think it’s Saturday mornings?), and I’d planned to try it some time this summer. You’ve given me hope!

    Love Alina’s little shoes!
