I can’t believe this summer will mark four years of marital bliss with Daddy D. Every day isn’t easy, we have our challenges, but we are committed to each other and the legacy we are building for our children.
Shortly after our anniversary, one of my dearest friends will be exchanging vows to a man who has stood by her for years. I am so thrilled! And did I mention our very own Alina will be her flower girl? Ohhh yes. You will be hearing more on that in the coming weeks, but today I wanted to say a thing or two {okay, 5 things} to the bride about beautifully surviving the big day, from the inside out. These are my survival tips for bridal beauty, from the inside out!
Because, you can’t BE beautiful if you don’t FEEL beautiful.

So, Maya, this one’s for you: my 5 survival tips for being your most beautiful bride self on your wedding day.
1.} Give yourself a few moments alone to appreciate what is about to happen. You are about to have every loved one in your universe doting and focused on preparing you for the big day. Make-up and hair is wonderful, but none of that compares to a bride who is in the moment and radiating beauty from the inside out. Get zen before the chaos begins!
2.} With that said, be purposed in who you allow around you before the ceremony. Sometimes more is not more. Are you carefree and can handle many things going on at once? Do you need calm energy to keep you lighthearted and stress free? Consider these things before opening yourself up right before your big reveal. Weddings are stressful and everyone will see it on your face if you are frazzled.
3.} Keep supplies readily available! Weddings can be messy business. Stuff comes up, stuff come out, sometimes your stuff just gets everywhere – so be prepared with sufficient supplies. Everything from bobby pins and safety pins to fast acting, strong deodorant should be readily available. Dove makes a variety of anti-perspirants, from Clear Tone to Clinical Strength, and is a company all about REAL women feeling beautiful. And I like that.
4.} Smile. Dance. Laugh. Wild ‘n out. But under no circumstance, do you freak out. I don’t care if the cake topples over; brush it off. This is YOUR day, and only you have the power to ruin it. Assuming any giant occurrence, what your guests will remember most is whether you were happy and having a good time. Enjoy your party! Let your loved ones see the beautiful woman you are on the inside.
5.} Lastly, don’t forget to tell your new husband how beautiful he looks, too! Because even the most rough and tumble man wants to hear sweet nothings on his wedding day. My man is neither rough nor tumble, but wowza, is he beautiful!

Such beautiful wedding pics, Vanessa. You’re so pretty.
I didn’t know Dove made a deodorant for underarm dark spots (I have those thanks to a run-in with Nair several years ago). I’ve been using the same deodorant since I was a teenager, but I’ll definitely consider making the switch. My dark underarms annoy me.
Thanks and have a good weekend!
Beautiful Pics!!
Great tips!
Wonderful advice. I always tell the bride that no matter what happens, every person at the wedding is there because they love her and want to celebrate with her on her special day… so what is there to stress about?
Oh – and Digs Studio photographed our wedding as well – LOVE them!!
