Alina and Momma Head South

This Saturday is a bit different than most. Instead of prepping my fruits and veggies from my co-op and starting to meal plan for the week, I am prepping our suitcases and planning our wardrobes. Why? Because Mommy and Baby are heading South! I mentioned earlier this week that Alina and I will be visiting our dear friends, Jessica and Ilah, in Atlanta, Georgia and in just a few days we’ll be on our way… I can hardly believe our little getaway is finally here! As a matter of fact, Jessica is a huge reason why I started this blog, and I’m happy I finally did {because it’s so fun!}. To read her blog, see pictures of her wedding that was published in The Knot, and of her beautiful little girl, visit: From Marriage to Motherhood.
Daddy D will also be away on business for the week, so it worked out perfectly. He is actually very happy {although a tad bit jealous!} that I won’t be mooping around the house all week by myself. We’ll miss him terribly, though.
I have always wanted to go to Atlanta. I am a total city girl, and Atlanta is the hub of all things modern and hip and cool of the South {from my very limited experience}. However, my vision of an Atlanta trip was more along the lines of stiletto hopping from hot spot to hot spot, eating at fancy eateries, taking in some sights, and dancing the night away, all why looking FABulous! Oh well…we’ll still look fab! Ha!
Jessica has planned a wonderful itinerary for us, complete with a mini-jaunt over to Savannah. Being one of her most favorite cities in Georgia, Jess was intent on taking us there. And I cannot wait! Walking the girls through the cobblestones streets, taking a horse carriage ride through the squares, picnicking in the gardens…it all sounds so blissful. The perfect backdrop for the start of wonderful friendships and memories to build on.

Once back in Atlanta, we’ll be doing a bit of sight seeing. I hope the Babies’ schedule allows it, because I am very much looking forward to visiting The King Center, Ebenezer Church and the home that Martin Luther King Jr. grew up in. I am not a complete history buff, but I do enjoy learning about topics close to my heart. Also, one cannot argue the fact that Martin Luther King Jr. is an awe inspiring figure in American History, and touring these places are experiences that I would rather not miss out on {so keep it together, Babies!}. And it’s Black History Month, which makes the whole experience that much more exciting!

We also plan to visit the world class Atlanta Aquarium. Seriously, this place looks stinking AAAmazing! Jess has already taken Ilah there, and said it was nothing short of kick bootie! I know Alina is going to LOVE it! Here are some pictures… {Sister, close your eyes…she has a fish phobia}

And since we will be with Jess and Ilah the day before Valentine’s Day, Jess thought it would be fun to have an itty bitty Valentines Day party for the girls. Jessica has an incredible home and, in general, has exquisite taste, so no doubt this “little party” will be too cute for words. I found adorable soft pink, tulle dresses for the girls to prance around in, and made matching bows to complete the look. Pictures galore will be taken!

Jess and I talk everyday, all day, about everything from owning wash cloths {yes, that actually was a topic of conversation today!} to our deepest fears as Mothers. I love her to pieces and am SO excited to finally get some quality time with her and to finally snuggle that beautiful little princess, Ilah.

Watch out, Georgia… Alina and I are a comin’!
