Toddler Goes To Atlanta: On The Move…

Toddler Goes To Atlanta: On The Move…
Our flight to Atlanta was an early morning one, and since my Husband had left the day before on business to North Carolina, I was left to do all the heavy lifting {literally!} on my own.
Lemme tell ya, it was no easy task pushing a stroller and maneuvering a fifty pound suitcase, plus a carry on and a diaper bag, all on my own. Oh, and let us not forget tending to the needs of a napless toddler! But I was extremely organized and deliberate in my planning, so Alina and I made it through without any major freak outs. {I am Momma, hear me roar!} Anyway, look out for my post on air travel tips for the solo traveler with child.

Although Alina was supposed to sit on my lap, I was able to secure her a seat next to me. That seat made a huge difference! The flight was about four hours and went very smooth. Alina sipped on her leche during take off and was asleep during landing, so we had no ear issues either. Before we knew it, we were rushing to the baggage claim to finally meet our friends! I cannot tell you how excited I was to see Jessica again; I honestly teared up when I first saw her and Ilah. Although we went to the same high school, it was not until recently that our friendship had really flourished. Through our pregnancies and the first year of our girls’ lives, we sent emails, pictures, texts and phone calls, but those had finally become “not enough”. Our trip was everything I had hoped it would be, a solid foundation for a long lasting friendship, and filled with lots of yummy food! After a hysterical engineering feat of genius {ever load 2 strollers, a large luggage, a duffel bag and diaper bags into a mid sized sedan that had 2 car seats in the back? No, you say? Well, we almost didn’t either!}, we headed to the Cheesecake Factory…yum!

Jess got this with her phone. I just love it!

Once settled at home, I immediately got to packing for the next day’s adventures- a four hour drive to Savannah, Georgia! We dressed the girls in matching shirts and were on our way. Alina was slightly less than thrilled to be on the road again and had a few things to say on the matter, but we made it one piece.

Jess booked us two nights at the Avia Hotel, an elegant boutique hotel right in the middle of Savannah’s historic district. Upon checking in, Jess flashed her gorgeous smile, told some of her witty jokes, and got us upgraded to a full size suite. Boo yaa! That’s my kinda girl! The extra space and amenities came in handy, and along with the European buffeted served up every morning, the Avia was a wonderfully comfortable home away from home.
It was already evening when we arrived, so we bundled up the babies in their strollers and set out on the town. I told you, we are ambitious Mommas! Always on the move! No time to waste! But first, I interrupt this post for snack time and cute pictures…
YUM! That was good!
Check back tomorrow for stories and pictures of our adventures through picturesque Savannah!
