April 16th’s Bountiful Baskets

April 16th’s Bountiful Baskets

This week’s haul was awesome! Way to go, Bountiful Baskets! I was concerned that with grocery prices {and everything else!} increasing, we would start noticing a decrease in the volume of produce. I thought that maybe last week we started to see the effect, especially with the vegetable bounty. And then… !!!

This week’s bounty consists of:
~ 5 Oranges
~ 9 Apples
~ 6 Banana
~ 1 Honeydew Melon
~ 3 Mango
~ 1 carton of Strawberries
~ 2 things of Celery
~ plenty of Persian Cucumbers
~ Radishes {new item for our kitchen}
~ bag of Carrots
~ 1 head of Broccoli
~ 6 Onion

~ 1 head of Romaine Lettuce

Doesn’t it look so yummy???!!! After countless comments from friends and family and readers, I am beginning to realize how lucky we are to have Bountiful Baskets. They are constantly adding new sites and even new states {Western United States}, so I encourage you to contact the organizers through email or their Facebook page to find out if you could start a new site in your area!

I will be using the Persian Cucumbers with the Red Vined Tomato from last week to make my yummy Greek Salad, adding some Romaine Lettuce in the mix.

I need some serious help with this celery though…. please help! Ideas, thoughts?

  1. I’m almost too embarrassed to say this since it’s pitiful compared to the masterpieces you cook up with your bountys. With the celery, you can make a yummy snack for Alina by spreading them with either peanut butter or cream cheese and then dotting them with sultanas. I think it’s called “ants on a log”.
