Like so many little girls, Alina loves to play Disney princess dress up. She wore a Princess Tiana costume for her second birthday party, can watch Tangled every day of the week, and thanks to the insistence of her Auntie, loves all things Disney – including princesses of movies she’s never even seen.
So when we were invited to attend Retailtainment’s event at WalMart to celebrate the re-release of Cinderella on Blu-Ray/DVD, I just knew we had to go! Wearing her dress up Cinderella costume, accompanied by her all time favorite Princess Tiana, Alina and I head out to pick up the 1950′s Disney Classic, Cinderella, which is digitally remastered and freshly released from The Vault for our modern day pleasure.
I can’t tell you how excited Alina was for her new movie! She thoroughly inspected the cover, excitably noting Cinderella’s animal friends and “Hairy” God-mother. We sat there a long while because I just couldn’t bare to rush her. We ended up buying the Blu-Ray/DVD combo pack, even though we don’t own a Blu-Ray (yet) because upon reading the display, I saw that it included audio in both English AND Spanish!! So perfect for aspiring bilingual families, like ours! While Alina is excited to play Disney princess dress up and watch Cinderella for the first time, I am thrilled to own a new tool to further immerse her in the Spanish language.
When we first got to the store, the Retailtainment event had not yet begun, so we decided to play the Disney Princess Royal Ball App for Android that I downloaded a few days before. Alina’s favorite part of the app was, of course, the dress up game. Once at WalMart, we scanned trigger points around the store to unlock different dresses and accessories. My little fashionista loved mixing and matching all the varying dress/accessories combinations! The Disney Princess Augmented Reality App had lots of features that made the excitement of Cinderella’s DVD release come alive for the user.
We enjoyed our treasure hunt of trigger points around the store. We found so much Cinderella merchandise in anticipation of the movie’s release on DVD. Check out the WalMart Disney page to find everything from bikes to pajamas! Eventually, we took Alina’s princess picture, one of my favorite features of the Royal Ball app. I don’t know if there has ever been a more beautiful Disney princess! The Retailtainment event at our WalMart was simple and sweet. There was a cake, a coloring activity and an activity to decorate your Halloween pumpkin. Our event host was so very nice to Alina, even giving her the cake toppers and raving that she’ll be “the most adorable Cinderella she will see all day”. Nice strangers are always so wonderful to come across. Not all events were low key though; I’ve read a few events that went all out with raffles, music and games by following #DisneyPrincessWMT on Twitter.
I am so looking forward to watching Cinderella with my daughter. It’s been ages since I have seen it myself, and I wonder what memories those all too familiar tunes will evoke. I am also looking forward to hearing the music in Spanish and sharing our love of Disney in another language. Stay tuned on how that goes!

Alina is so cute. I love her Princess dress. I’m scouring the internet now for Halloween costume ideas.
How sweet is she! I can tell she so poses for you too. Love the app character you put her in. I think that’s one of the beautiful things about little ones. Their ability to dream and have fun with it. Through them it’s like living life twice.
She looks as excited as I was when I found out Christian Louboutin was designing a glass slipper for the release of this!
So adorable! One of the sad things about having boys is that I won’t be dressing them up as princesses… oh well, I guess that’s what I have nieces for!
What a beautiful little princess! How do you do her hair? Her curls are gorgeous! Have fun watching Cinderella with your niña linda
