This post is part of a blog hop organized by fellow blogger and friend, Chantilly at Bicultural Mom. Multicultural Monday is an opportunity to meet other multicultural bloggers and share our stories. This is my first time linking up, so a big welcome to new readers!
This week’s Multicultural Monday topic is on family relocation and the things you miss most of your hometown. Although I have been wanting to link up with Multicultural Monday for some time, it was this specific topic that finally motivated me to ignore the clamoring two year old at my feet and other such distractions…
On July 5th, it will be exactly seven years since Daddy D and I moved to Las Vegas {the Sin-LESS city!}. And while I have come to love our new hometown, there are aspects of my beach suburban town of Southern California that I desperately miss…
First: The Beach!
Does this really need any further explanation? If so, here’s my Personal Identity Post on the topic.

Second: A social life {or having more friends than you can count on one hand.}
Because there is really nothing more insane than dressing up, talking trash and spending quality time with a bunch of women that know way too much about your pre-mommy days….and then having to wake up with a 6 month old

Third: Working out outdoors {or doing anything, for that matter} anytime of the day that you want.
In summer, you don’t go outside in the afternoon. In winter, you don’t go outside at night. In the desert, you just can’t go outside whenever you want. That sucks.

Forth: Cousins.
Until I was married into my Step Mom’s family, I had not a single first cousin. I didn’t know any different, so it wasn’t a big deal. But the fact that Alina has like twenty first cousins and hardly knows them is sad for me. I love my nieces and nephews, and hope that Alina bonds with them as she grows up.

Fifth: My family.
Gosh… I just really miss these crazy Cubans. They could be anywhere on this planet, and it would feel like home. Just looking at their crazy faces makes my heart happy.

All of these pictures were taken in the Summer of 2010 and browsing through them have gotten me SO excited for our Summer trip back home in just a few weeks. What kind of crazy antics can we get into this time around?
Get ready for us, Southern Cali!!!

Aww.
Glad you get to see all your folks soon.
I’m with you. My husband and I moved “away” when we got married almost six years ago. While we’re only an hour away from our hometowns, it’s not as easy to visit home as one would think. Our busy lives get in the way. We miss being around family all the time and being able to go out with hometown friends. It’s tough being in a city with no family (especially when you could us a babysitter – ha!)
Anyhoo, it’s life, and it’s fun to just roll with it. Have a good week!
Awww!! I’m so excited for you that you’re going home for a visit soon! I miss my family so, so much and especially the beach and seeing my daughter play with her cousins. It’s been two years since our last visit and I’m hoping we can make it to see them this fall.
It’s just awful to have so much family and know that they are so far away.
ENJOY your visit home!!! And I’m so excited you jumped into this blog hop! I loved seeing all the pics of your family and friends!!
Enjoy your visit home! Can’t wait to see pictures and hear about your reunion with the beach, family, and friends
Great pictures. Your little one is precious! Glad to hear you get to go home for a visit. Looks like a great crew of family and friends you have. I’m sure they are just as excited as you are to see and spend time with you. Enjoyed your post!
