Finding Nemo 3D: A Toddler’s First Experience

Finding Nemo 3D: A Toddler’s First Experience

The endearing adventure of Nemo and friends that we have grown to love is now in thrilling Disney Digital 3D for the first time ever and definitely not to be missed. The colorful underwater scenes were even more beautiful to watch when coming to life in 3D. And, of course, Dory {as portrayed by the voice of Ellen Degeneres} is as loveable as ever.

Alina and I were lucky to be of the first in Las Vegas to watch Finding Nemo 3D. The pre-screening event was on a Saturday morning, so we said good bye to Daddy and baby boy to set out on some quality one-on-one time. Not something Alina and I get very often these days, so the event was extra special.

The first, and only, time Alina has been to the movie theaters was last summer when we attended the Regal Summer Movie Express $1 movies. The cost was perfect, in case my sensitive toddler had to make an impromptu exit {which she did half way into the movie}. $1 movie meant no big deal. So, when the opportunity to pre-screen Finding Nemo 3D came up, I jumped on the chance to expose Alina to the world of 3D films.

We met up with my fellow Vegas Bloggers, grabbed some popcorn and settled in to enjoy the tide of Finding Nemo 3D…

Alina made it through the entire movie, but not without hiccups. Still fresh in her toddler years, Alina is very emotional. Imagery and music have an enormous impact on her comfort level. So, for example, when Marlin and Dory are frantically swimming for their lives, being chased by vegetarian sharks, Alina lost her mind. Luckily, I sat at the end of the row, making a quick exit without too much disruption. We took a bathroom break, and by the time we returned, the scene was over. But after that, Alina refused to wear the 3D glasses and watched the remainder of the movie without them AND in my lap. Not that I minded :)

I expected Alina to react the way she did, which is why I am selective on when I expose her to certain experiences. A stressed out toddler with a stressed out momma is not a good combo. I was happy that I could enjoy Alna’s first 3D movie and cater to her developing sensory freak outs, without worrying about a packed theater of paying patrons.

In the end, Alina had a blast! She is still talking about the sharks, and how they scared her, but she also happily sings “just keeping swimming!” and remembers our Saturday morning Mommy-Daughter date.

Finding Nemo 3D is in theaters now nationwide!
