Gilcrease Orchard: Las Vegas Apple & Pumpkin Picking

Gilcrease Orchard: Las Vegas Apple & Pumpkin Picking

Family Vegas Blog

Alina and I had been missing our best Vegas friends, and to commemorate our crew’s reunion, Baby B’s momma and I decided it would be fun to take the kids apple and pumpkin picking. Yup, my Vegas blog readers, right here in our city! Turns out, we don’t have to travel very far to enjoy the honored tradition of apple picking {and other yummy fruits and veggies} straight from the trees and ground. The Gilcrease Orchard is a short drive out of town, but feels like a different world…

The kids caught on super quick, and really loved the apple picking adventure! Most of my close friends {and their kids whom I love} live back home, in Cali. Some are even further away. So, to have met an awesome momma/baby duo that Alina and I both adore, has been a true gift. I love watching Alina and Baby B bound and share experiences. And having Baby B’s mom as a confidant to lean on when mommyland isn’t so grand, has been invaluable too. Friends make my heart happy!

I love this beautiful photo memory of my sweet girl. Someone remind me to have it printed and hung in my house! Seriously. Don’t let me forget!

After picking enough apples for a homemade apple pie, and a few attempts at veggie picking {some horticulture googling is in order before our next trip!}, we were off to find the kids their very first pumpkin of 2011′s October.

But first, a quick stop at this adorable photo spot for a few pictures of our mixed beauties…

Alina had a good time picking pumpkins, especially since she has been a ball fanatic lately. It was cute to watch her carry her pumpkin around, although I had to make sure she didn’t throw it {something else she is fanatic about doing lately}. The Mommas spotted a few small pumpkins for the babies to take home… I had to cut ours right off the vine!

Before heading home, our 4some shared freshly made apple cider and homemade donuts, while looking over our bounty of hand-picked goodness. I can’t say that I’ve had a better morning in a long time. Just me and a great friend, with our adored babies in tow, enjoying the fresh air and a bit of nature. Doesn’t get much better than that.

I love my husband, our family will always be my top priority, but having great friends is truly one of my heart’s biggest necessities. Along with the many other virtues and morals I wish to instill in my daughter, I hope that she also remembers and remains grateful of those tried and true friendships. Its truly an area of my life in which I have been abundantly blessed.

So…cheers! To healthy living and great friends. And, not to be outdone, apple picking in VEGAS!!!
