Is it horrible to admit that holiday shopping has been nonexistent over here? We’re well into December and I better get started if I want to be ready for Christmas. What can I say? I’m pregnant with toddler… life is just kinda crazy! But I finally got my act together over this past weekend.
On what seems to be my 100th trip to The Home Depot recently, I started to browse for possible gift giving potentials. First on the list? Daddy D. He is amazing in every way, most especially in his work ethic and his ability to provide for his growing family. Since we will be closing on our home in just a few days {!!!!}, a Home Depot gift for my home-owning handyman would only be fitting.
Alina is always in awe at Home Depot, and as you can tell in the picture below, she was especially enthralled on this particular visit. So many cool things, high and low, to admire as I browsed each aisle, carefully considering what Daddy D would love most…
First stop: grills. What man wouldn’t love a fantastic grill? And some were even on sale! I can just see the delicious grilled steaks and fish and veggies being whipped up in our new backyard on a warm summer night. Daddy D has been wanting to master grilling techniques for some time, and although these beautiful gas grills would be perfect, he has mentioned wanting an old school coal burning grill.
But you know what Daddy would REALLY love? A new fancy vacuum! Ok ok, maybe a high powered mega machine that works on all floor types is something Momma would benefit more from. I have to admit, while shopping for D, I saw sooo many cool gifts that would be perfect for, um, me! Ha! Who knew Home Depot could be a one stop shop for all your holiday gift giving?
In the spirit of the season, I pried my focus back to Daddy and found a variety of great tools he would love. I have a variety of weekend projects in store for my stud muffin, and having decent equipment would make them so much easier. Anyway, every household needs a high powered drill, right? Alina seemed to think so!
Oh! Did I mention all the great paint colors we found? I can browse the paint section for hours, envisioning how a space would transform with a fresh coat of the perfect paint color. I may have kept a few of these swatches and probably sat there a bit longer than necessary discussing the undertones of each shade of taupe with my Sister. So much fun! I know, I know, we are supposed to be looking for Daddy D…
But in my defense, I wasn’t the only one following in love with the gift selection at Home Depot. Even Alina found something she couldn’t live without! Home Depot’s holiday decor is really extensive {including a Martha Stewart line!}. Head over to www.homedepot.com/holiday to view their wide variety of lights, tree trimmings, etc. Alina fell in l.o.v.e. with this adorable snow family. We hung out with them awhile, pointing to the “snowdaddy”, “snowmommy” and “snowbaby”, before finally adding it to our cart.
So yes, at the end of the mega shopping exploration, my mild mannered sweetheart finally got a gift: a coal burning grill very similar to this one pictured below. Since he reads the blog, I guess his gift won’t be much of a surprise…but he’ll be happy with it nonetheless! Have you ever shopped for holiday gifts at The Home Depot?
