Home Is Where My Heart Is

It’s official. We’re homeowners! I have been anxiously awaiting the time where I could document this new stage in our lives. Finally, I am happy to announce all i’s have been dotted and t’s have been crossed. The beauty below is ours and we could not love her more.

I haven’t always made the wisest financial decisions in my younger adult years. Whether misguided, misinformed or flat out dumb, I hang my head in shame when recalling those {really} stupid choices. But, I’m a realist. I’m not going to sit here and pretend we just happened to fall into this great fortune of home ownership. Daddy D and I have made a ton of sacrifices to get here, worked hard to change our mindset on personal finances and will continue to evolve in order to give our kids a stable upbringing. I plan to one day blog more about this shift in priorities, but suffice it to say that having gone through the poopy diapers makes this dream so much sweeter. We truly are living an incredible high!

Our new home is modest in size {compared to other mansions here in Vegas} and needs some updating, but she is perfect for our growing family and is in a fantastic neighborhood and elementary school. Vegas is a strange place, so even on our tight budget, we could have gotten much bigger and newer. But, my #1 priority has always been location. Our beautiful girl {I decided the house is a ‘she’} sits towards the end of a cul-de-sac with access to the master planned community’s green, walking trail steps away. We’re also now only 4.32 minutes away from my Sister {she timed it} and less than a mile from our favorite library. I couldn’t be more pleased with where we ended up.

The most bestest of best parts of this deal??? We could afford our baby girl on our one income! Daddy D flourishes at work and will undoubtedly continue with his upward climb of the corporate ladder, but it feels great to know we could afford our monthly expenses TODAY. Daddy D works so hard for his family; I can never express how amazingly proud and grateful I am to him. I love you, husband. Forever and ever.

This week has proved to be quite hectic… we are doing a very slow move, with painting and a few updating projects before we are technically living in the house {thank you, my sister!}. Nonetheless, I am happy to finally fill everyone in! Pictures and updates on our updates to come…

Wishing you a happy Tuesday!
