Dear dearest Son,
Can you believe you won’t be a baby much longer? I can’t. How has 10 months flown by, taking your baby days of lazy mornings and helpless yearnings with it? This letter to my son, you my sweet Sebastian, is one of a couple that will mark the last of your infant love letters. Soon you will turn one year old!
You are a wildly silly boy, Sebas! You make me laugh everyday. You are waving now, and like to pat my back just like I pat yours. Your favorite song is Itsy Bitsy Spider, and Duérmete Mi Niño is still the only tune that will drift you off to sleep. You love your Daddy, and get SO crazy excited when he comes home. You literally squeal when you see him walk in, waving your fists in the air as if to say “hurry up and pick me up, Dad!”. Your little mouth has learned to make the most precious gibberish. We copy you, and you respond right back. Although I love the sound, I can’t wait till you are making actual words and I can find out what is going on in that sweet head of yours. Other than the obvious restrictions (nuts, strawberries, etc) you eat everything we eat now. You know how to get in good with your momma, as you will happily devour anything I cook. Love that! You are still a breast feeding champ, and our plan is still to wean in two months. I’m not sure you will comply, however. You are in the 90th percentile for height and weight, so you are strong boy. Everyone comments on how much you look like your sister, and that makes me happy. I wanted my kids to look alike; it just so happens I was blessed with, not just one beautiful girl, but a dashingly handsome boy too.
But the biggest accomplishment you’ve conquered this month is… WALKING! At just shy of ten months (a week shy, actually) you took your first steps. It was SO awesome! You had been using your walkers and cruising around the house for months, but you finally decided it was time to take off. And you haven’t stopped! Each day your mobility improves, and now you prefer walking to crawling. You’re a quick little booger, too! I see a review in shooting in Shutter Speed Priority coming because I just could not shoot fast enough! Even blurred, you are as cute as a button.
My beautiful boy, you meld so perfectly into our fold. You make me so happy. There are no words to how much happiness you bring to your father. And your sister, you are her first kiss each and every morning. Together, the three of us, take in each day and marvel at how fast you are growing. We are excited for this year, for your first birthday, your first family vacation. Your dad, sister and I love you more today than yesterday, but less than tomorrow, because each day gives us one glimpse more of the outstanding gentlemen you are destined to be.
I am so honored to be on this journey with you.
Te quiero tanto, y un poco mas, mi hijo,
