Lied Discovery Children’s Museum: Family Vegas Blog

So Vegas blog readers, what does a Mommy and baby do on a hot summer day? Visit the Lied Discovery Children’s Museum ! Located near downtown Las Vegas, the building houses great exploration activities for kids of all ages. Especially during a hot Vegas day, the Lied Discovery Museum turned out to be a blast for both of our babies.

The museum has two areas specifically for toddlers: Desert Discovery and Toddler Towers. The Desert Discovery area is limited to children under the age of 5, which made it safer for slow moving toddlers {slow moving compared to the uber fast, older kiddos}. This area was perfect to practice balance and large motor skills. It was filled with all sorts of activities that taught cause/effect and tempted the imagination to explore. It was such a great little place for our sprouting young ones. We spent the majority of our time in this area.

There was even a space designated for the kids to sit down and take fun in activities, such as painting and drawing. Complete with a sofa and a variety of books {and magazines}, it was perfect for the parent looking for refuge from the chaos of the play area. Alina spent most her time playing with the sand pit.

My favorite part was by the far the Soap Bubbles! You can blow the biggest bubbles you have ever seen! You could even stand inside a bubble or get smashed in the face with a bubble! Coooool!

This museum had so many fun outlets that, I have to admit, the Mommas had just as much fun as the kiddos! Our experience made for a great Vegas blog post too! Pretend camp sites, airplanes, fire engines, even a stage {with great lighting!} and a decent selection of costumes. Alina and Baby B are still too young to take full advantage of all the museum’s features, but that didn’t stop them from trying!

The Lied Discovery Children’s Museum will be moving to a brand spank new building next year, which means this is the last year in their original building. I don’t know why that makes me sad; I’m sure the new site will be gorgeous. Although we stayed till closing time, the employees were kind enough to give us a special tour… since this little sweetheart had such a great time, and this Momma is still wracking my brain on what to do for her second birthday {which will be here before I know it}, I’ll go out on a limb and say that we *may* have found Alina’s second birthday party locale! Hush, hush though 😉
