Mission Beach, San Diego: Belmont Park
Travel Traditions: San Diego Belmont Park
If seems that every time we are in San Diego’s Mission Beach, we end up at San Diego Belmont Park. And during our month vacation in California this summer, that is exactly where the kids and I went with my mom and grandmother to enjoy the family friendly atmosphere, amusement park rides and sweet treats.
Of course I came prepared with my Britax gear (specifically their side by side B-Agile Double stroller). Britax is sponsoring this post, as they want to see how our family is using their products during our summer travels. As always, stories and images are my own.
San Diego’s Mission Beach is one of my favorites for a few reasons. First, Mission Bay is right there. With a host of outdoor activities, including water sports, at your immediate disposal, you can never get bored . Also, the beach itself is really beautiful. The tide is close, making it easier to get to the water. And who doesn’t love San Diego weather. As we stayed really close to the beach, at the Bahia Resort, I pushed kids in our Britax B-Agile double stroller for a walk down to the Mission Beach pretty much everyday we were there. The strand is lined with shops and restaurants, making it easy to grab quick snacks or enjoy a meal while watching the sunset. I truly love this area.

While I love Mission Beach for all those reasons, what makes this beach area extra special is Belmont Park. Situated right next to the beach’s strand, this little area of restaurants and shops reminds me of a smaller version of Santa Monica pier. It has so many fun things for kids to do. We went down there a few times during out stay, and each time Alina was in heaven. Both of the kids went on the carrousel countless times, and one day I even indulged Alina’s sweet tooth with an ice cream cone form Sweet Shoppe that was the size of her head!
Belmont Park was a wonderful backdrop for precious memories made. My kids don’t get to soak up the attention of their Abuela and GG (great grandmother. Yes, that woman is Alina’s great grandmother), so these moments are ones I won’t soon forget. Alina sharing an ice cream cone with Abuela; GG snuggling with Alina has her horse went round and round, these are memories that, while not grand, are what I want my kids’ legacy to made of. Simple love and family.
Even for a three year old, there were plenty of rides Alina could enjoy. She loved riding the Submarine with GG high into the air, and pretending she was a captain of her sailboat. And while he was too small for most rides, Sebastian ran around like a crazy boy while being chased by his Abuela. I was just in heaven, taking way too many pictures. San Diego Belmont Park is definitely a place we’ll come back to over and over.
If you are in San Diego’s Mission Beach area, I totally recommend you check out Belmont Park for an afternoon of good old fun. Mission Bay, Mission Bay Park, Mission Beach and Belmont Park are within walking distance, so pack up your stroller with everything you’ll need for a full day of fun at the beach and amusement park. Especially helpful for when the kids are too tired to walk home – which is what happened to us – bring your Britax stroller so that they can sleep comfortably as you enjoy your evening stroll.
