Fatherhood and Family Heritage: Focus On Quality

Fatherhood and Family Heritage: Focus On Quality
It seems as though with each degree the temperature increases, so does the warmth in our weekends. Family time is blooming in the most fulfilling way. The days are not always perfect, sometimes there are clouds of stress overhead, but my Husband and I remain committed to our little family, and to our marriage, and for that I am thankful. He works a lot, so the time he spends with his daughter to build his legacy (and our family heritage), has to be quality time.

A Father’s Legacy and a Family Heritage

Having Daddy D home for the entire day is something Alina {and I} relish in; she just adores her Daddy. She asks for him upon waking from her naps, she talks about him as I’m getting her dressed, she sings his name as we’re strolling through the park, “DaaaaaaaaaddY!”. The girl can’t get enough of her Daddy. And I can’t get enough of watching the love between my Husband and his Daughter.

Since I have been taking Alina out on park play dates with a new Mommy group, Daddy D has been aching to go too. So this weekend, with the sun on our backs and a slight breeze leading our way, we did just that.

Last week I came upon Alina’s love of swings. And not just a slight swing… the girl loves to get up high! Which is odd because she does not like being tossed up in the air. The baby swings were occupied when we first arrived at the park, but as soon as a seat was vacant, Daddy D scooped up his Baby and made a run for it, screaming “a swing is open! a swing is open!”. Ha! These two had the best time together. I stood back {capturing as much of their joy as I could with my sister’s hijacked camera} and tried to breathe in every single moment. I am blessed beyond measure.

Has anyone else noticed a reoccurring theme in these pictures??? Daddy D could NOT stay out of the frame! Whether it was to be close to Alina or to protect her from any number of catastrophic disasters looming in the distance, he had one hand on her at ALL times. Perhaps it’s my style of parenting, but I usually take a step back and let my girl discover the world on her own a bit {even still, I am always 6 inches from her}, but that is certainly not my Husband’s way of doing things. It was his day though, and Alina basked in all his attention.After play time, we found the shade of a nearby tree to relax and enjoy a snack… but not before wiping off all the nasty playground germs. Do you know how many germs a playground has?!?! I just had to laugh…

Look at this little Miss Priss with her Daddy’s sunglasses on! Daddy called her “HollywOOd!”

Alina loves her “bbutton”… if you ask her, she’ll show you her’s. Be ready to show her your’s in return though. {Daddy D’s reaction: “Baby, put your shirt down please!!” Haha}

Alina learns more and more everyday! We are teaching her the parts of the face in Spanish…

I am quite shocked actually at how over protective my Mr. Cool Guy has turned out to be in his Daddy role. And not just with Alina. He was ready to schedule a MRI when I complained of a headache this week. I lovingly tease him, and quietly cherish, his highly protective stance over his family. I take pride in my strength as a woman, but I feel safe with my Husband by my side. His response: “I just love my girls.”
