This weekend promises to be jam packed with all sorts of family time! The Ladies are heading out dress shopping tomorrow morning, but not for just anydress. We’ll be on the look out for the perfect WEDDING dress! My Cousin is getting married and everyone over here is ecstatic to see our beautiful Kimmy dressed in white! I am especially excited to just spend time with my Aunt and Cousins, Step Mom and Sister. We live just miles apart, but we don’t get to spend quality time like this very often. Why does life get to busy for us to spend time with our loved ones?!?!
Building a Family Heritage – Every Day!
Alina is now 14 months old, and in the ninetieth percentile for height and eightieth for weight, so she’s a big girl. I have kept her rear facing because of the research I have done, but the Hubby is annoyed. He says you have to be an expert in packing just to get Alina in and out of her car seat. Take a look at this poor girl!…
This is an on going debate. Likely it will last another 10 months, at which time my Husband will win. Ha! Truly though, I can see {literally} his point. Did any Moms out there keep their kid rear facing till 24 months even though standard practice is 12 months?
A few weeks ago, while shopping at my favorite neighborhood market, I came across this little gem of a snack for only .69cents:
I have a friend whose house we would ramsack for snacks after school. Being a Korean family, it usually meant yummy kim {seaweed} with rice that her Mom made fresh each day. Yum Yum! Like most anything I eat, Alina wanted a taste and couldn’t get enough! Not sure if its luck, or cooking her baby food from scratch, but I love that Alina will eat nearly everything I feed her!
I hope everyone enjoyed their St. Patrick’s Day! Alina and I met up with a new Mommy friend at our library for a festive storytime program. Alina was all decked out in green {and pink, of course!}.Tomorrow I pick up my Bountiful Basket! One of the innate benefits of being a produce co-op contributor is the meal planning inspiration. You get what you get every Saturday, and you have seven days to eat all the yummy goodness {or freeze it} before you are all stocked up again! I usually go grocery shopping, if not during the weekend then for sure Monday, and get whatever I need for meals that week. I check out blogs of fellow BB contributors if I am stuck with a certain vegetable {fruit nearly always is eaten as snacks or in smoothies}. My favorite food blog belongs to Alysa from Inspired RD. Alysa is located in Arizona, so we usually get similar items in our baskets. She is a registered dietitian, so I can depend on her recipes to focus on health and nutrition. And she is a Mom, which means her recipes are also quick and not fussy. Not to mention, her kids are just too darn cute! For my fellow BB lovers in Las Vegas, check her out if you’re in a pinch for recipe ideas!

First up, no we didn’t keep the boys rear-facing until 24 months. I actually can’t remember exactly when they turned front facing, but it would have been earlier.
With groceries, I like to give frozen corn and peas as snacks. Frozen has the same nutrients and sometimes more than the fresh stuff because they aren’t always as “fresh” as they claim to be, and they’re much cheaper than factory-made snacks. Plus they’re surprisingly really yummy frozen
Also, making alot of rice dishes is good too. Rice is extremely cheap and you can make the bulk of the dish rice with only a little meat and a good serve of veggies. As long as you can have a nice sauce and change it up a few times you don’t get sick of rice. And you can cook it different ways. Boiled, fried or even turn it into rice pudding for dessert.
I also never put left overs in the fridge. If they go in the fridge, they’re forgotten and two days later you wonder if they’re still good so you leave them and then a week later they’re growing and it’s a yucky mess to clean up. I always put leftovers into single serve meals and into the freezer. My husband does 12 hour shifts and he takes along a freezer meal for his dinner. Much much cheaper than the meals you find in the freezer at the grocery store and no food is wasted. They’re also handy if he’s doing a night shift and I need something a bit more substantial than what the kids are eating for dinner. Or if I’m not prepared enough or sick and we don’t have anything to cook, it’s cheaper than getting take-away.
