Second Birthday Weekend Plans

SHARE THIS:

Alina turns TWO next week! And of course we did an all-out birthday photo shoot! It was such a fun day and, lemme tell ya, this kid knows how to work the camera! Isn’t she a doll face? Love her! {I’ll post more of pics of my birthday cowgirl next week}

My best friend Nicole comes into town tonight {drive safe, bestie!} with her husband and three kids and despite the chaos that will unlikely ensue… we are quite excited! Alina is a big kid now, and can hold her own, so having a weekend packed with kids and play is something she will not soon forget. There’s much to do in the next few days {including taking the babes up for a snow day tomorrow}, and I have been busy preparing for all of it like a crazy lady this week.

Last year, to celebrate our first born turning one, we had a huge party with all our family and friends. We did a Dr. Seuss theme to honor Alina’s love of “The Foot Book”… a Dr. Seuss classic that she can pretty much recite nowadays. It took months to plan her party, and plenty of resources, but I would not have had it any other way…

This year, I wanted to tone down the festivities… a huge party is just not in the budget, nor was it really ever the plan. What I envisioned was a small gathering of family and close friends who Alina knows and loves, yummy food and maybe some decorations… that. is. it. And that’s all we’re doing {even if by “small” the gathering is still 20+ people}.

Alina is finally at the age where she sits through an entire movie, and that came as a welcomed surprise while we were busy moving into our new home last month. The first movie Alina fell in love with was Disney’s Princess and The Frog. She could have watched it a hundred times a day {not that I let her!} Have you seen the movie? It’s very cute and actually has a stellar soundtrack…much easier on the ears than some of this other kid television. Alina loves the movie, the music, the Princess…she loves everything about it! Anyway, I decided to have a Louisiana inspired dinner, complete with Princess Tiana’s signature dishes…

It’s sure to be a fun evening…one filled with lots of love and laughter for my sweet little girl.

Happy Friday, everyone! Have a wonderful weekend!
