Britax B Ready Double Stroller Review! Should You Stack Or Not?

You’ve seen them, but what do you really think of stackable strollers? I’ll admit, my perceptions of the Britax B Ready with second seat attachment wasn’t great… but turns out I was wrong! I really do love most Britax stroller systems, but I was initially unsure about whether to stack my kids or not. The Britax Be Ready double stroller and its collection of accessories totally proved me wrong though. Here’s this mom’s honest Britax B Ready review.

Britax B Ready Review: Perception vs Reality

After using this double stroller for a few months and taking it on a cross-country trip, this is what I ultimately think about it….

Britax B Ready Double Stroller

The question of whether a Britax B Ready double stroller is the right decision, considering the stackable design of it, is the first order of business. Here’s our perception vs reality stroller review…

Perception: At first sight, I didn’t like the stackable strollers at all. I could never imagine putting my baby so low to the ground, tucked so far away from me. I thought my older child would hate it too. A few friends have also assumed she’d hate it because she can’t see forward or that she was incredibly comfortable because her feet were in the storage basket.

Reality: Turns out, my daughter loves her little cocoon! She jumps in and out at will, feeling like she’s in her own little space. While on vacation in Florida this summer, the Britax B Ready stroller second seat attachment was a life saver as it allowed us to stay out late while both kids slept comfortably in the stroller. The side-by-side double stroller has a much bigger footprint and sometimes my older child wouldn’t even sit in it.

Britax B Ready Travel System

Perception: At first sight, I was worried the Britax B Ready travel system would be too huge for regular use, let alone lugging it across the country. I worried it would steer poorly or didn’t navigate through real life (grocery store, shopping aisles, small doorways). Wow, was I wrong….

Reality: It is wider than a typical single stroller, that is for sure, but not compared with other double strollers. First, because it is not an in-line stroller (which I can’t stand), the Britax Be Ready steers just like a single stroller (by the way, check out the gorgoues new Britax B Ready stroller colors!). No more obnoxious wide turns. Also, because its not a side-by-side, this stackable stroller fits everywhere easily – just like a single stroller would. The seats are positioned so that they stack, making use of vertical space versus front/back or side/side. I love this Britax B Ready travel system for ease of use. Once I got over my perception of the configuartions, I fell in love with its ease of use. Again, it is big and, when collapsed, still is as big as a typical double stroller, but it doesn’t maneuver like any other double stroller I’ve used.

Britax Double Strollers: To Stack or Not to Stack?!

Perception: Here’s a note of caution! I started to email Britax to ask why the stroller would tip back with my oldest child in the bottom seat when I removed my infant from the top seat (ya, that was very scary). I guess I had a bit of leftover pregnancy brain because, duh, weight restrictions change when using the Britax second seat attachment.

Reality:  Even though the weight limit on the top seat is 55 pounds, the second seat attachment actually has a limit of 35 pounds. While not by much, my oldest child is heavier than 35 pounds and then include with the diaper bag hanging on the handlebars, means the weight was too high. After that scare, I start using the double stroller correctly with my infant and his Britax car seat in the bottom seat and my 35 lb daughter in the top.

Put your kids in each seat and spend an hour or more walking around the store. Take them to the store’s bathroom, ask to take it out to your car and put it in your trunk.

These strollers are excellent quality, but the price reflects that and I want you to be sure a stackable stroller is good for your family before you make the investment.
