Best Step2 Playhouses for Kids + Toddlers

Kids love to play outside. Combine fresh air with kids’ wild imaginations and a whimsical playhouse and you’ve got hours of fun! Even as an adult, Step2 playhouses definitely come to mind when I think of our favorite toys. Over the years I’ve bought a lot of these outdoor playhouses, whether for my own children, as gifts, or even donations to our local preschool; a Step 2 outdoor playhouse is always a welcomed addition. But I’ve learned there are a few key features you should look out for to maximize enjoyment, most notably the size of the playhouse if you have tall and big kids like I do.

Before you We researched Step2 playhouses for awhile, before finally deciding on the Step2 Great Outdoors playhouse because of the playhouse height and overall dimensions. It’s perfect for my two tall kiddos!

We were all so excited when the kids’ first outdoor Step 2 playhouse arrived at our doorstep – the Step2 Great Outdoors Playhouse is everything my kids hoped it would be! It was a big box, but Daddy was able to assemble this beauty within 20 to 30 minutes. Instructions were easy to follow and as soon as he was done, the kids jumped right into to play their hearts out…

Step2 Outdoor Playhouse

The Step2 Great Outdoors Playhouse is packed with kid-sized supplies, including a sweet red door for easy access to a spacious interior for plenty of play and a crawl-through entrance near the grill makes sure parents know this is a kid’s domain! The open layout is great and allows us to watch the play without obstruction.

This supersized Step 2 playhouse is perfect for our kids! I love that my very tall 4-year-old can completely stand up because of the height. It’s also fun to be able to lean in and play with them. Step2 playhouses are great quality and we found that all the pieces fit as intended. This Step 2 play was exceptionally awesome though because of its extra width and open, which I loved. That is something to keep in mind and differs from traditional closed in playhouses.

There’s an adorable little planting station for green-thumbs to help in the garden that can be used to grow real vegetables, herbs and flowers. How cool is that?! We’re hoping to plant some herbs, as soon as my little boy stops digging everything out!

My Kids Love Step2 Playhouses!

With the weather warming up, Daddy has been outside grilling and the kids love pretending to bar-b-que alongside him. The grill features click & turn knobs and accessories. Since my daughter’s indoor play kitchen is stocked with food, the kids have a blast deciding what to bring out and make for dinner. We’ve have quite the spread… including grilled pizza, veggies and cookies. 🙂

By far, the kids’ most favorite part of the new Step2 Great Outdoor playhouse is the water feature. They grab the bucket and explore nature with the working water pump and power wheel. The blue cup that strains the water down the canal actually comes off, which can be a pain to keep track of, but its otherwise a great addition to the playhouse.

The playhouse also features a working door with a mail slot and grilling accessories.

This Step 2 house is big and provides plenty of space to play and explore. What I love though is that it isn’t super heavy, which means I can easily move it around our lawn or keep it on the rocks while not in use. The Step2 Great Outdoors Playhouse is made in the USA from strong durable materials that stand up to tough kids and the great outdoors.
