Things To Do Before Number Two

Busy, busy, sick… that’s been my life these days. Regardless of the chaos, what always remains in the forefront of my mind is the arrival of my sweet boy. Because of the craziness that was Alina’s birth, of which I will one day blog about, a cesarian section has been scheduled for early April. That’s like really soon, people! Being such, I figured a to-do list was in order. Here are a few things I want and need to take care of before I wake up on D-day numero dos …
1. Attend Tia Jess’s Baby Shower!
Have I mentioned that my very best friend {Alina’s Tia Jess} is pregnant? And that she is having a boy! Anticipating the arrival of her sweet son has brought me so much joy {I cried hysterically when she told me she was expecting}, but being able to experience pregnancy and motherhood alongside my best friend has been priceless. The only thing that sucks is living 3000 miles apart from one another…
With my doctor’s permission, Daddy D will be driving me to Southern California to attend Tia Jess’s first baby shower. So most impotant task on my “To Do Before Number Two” list is to celebrate my son’s future best friend with my long-time best friend! Can’t wait to spend some time with her and my family!

2. Cook a stash of freezer meals.

Although I’ve been a slacker as of late, I really do love to cook good tasting and good-for-you food. Seeing as my stomach will be slashed open, standing in the kitchen is not something I will likely want to do after a c-section. After Alina was born, my cousin dropped off a truck load of homecooked frozen meals {individually packaged} and it was nothing short of a God send. Yummy, nutrituous meals were packed into my freezer for at least a couple weeks.

I have been pinning either freezable and/or crockpot meals for awhile, anticipating my marathon cooking day to come. And it’s here! I’ll  be sure to recap all the yumminess!

3. Transition Alina from crib to big girl  bed.

To my amazement, this task has already been crossed off the list. Truly, it is amazing. Alina gets read two books {“I’m A Big Sister” and “Good Night Moon”} before being tucked into her giant bed. And then. We walk out. That’s it. Oh, then she goes to sleep. I wonder if I just leave her sitting on the toilet if she will potty train herself? I am serioulsy considering hiring Auntie to doing those honors too…
4. Finish both kids’ rooms.

Although I drafted this list awhile ago, I am sad to say we are STILL working on these two rooms. Will the painting ever end??? However, this weekend the chair rails were installed {in DIY fashion} and they look amazing, especially in baby boy’s room where the contrast is high. Daddy D and Auntie really rocked it out! Alina’s window still needs new blinds, her dresser needs a redo, decor needs to finalizied and hung. But, in stark contrast to when I first drafted this post, much has taken place in the rooms as well: both rooms have been painted, Alina’s old crib and dresser has been moved into the nursery, baby boy’s bedding is in place {complete with custom made crib skirt made by Grammy}, DIY boxed cornice has been made and hung for baby boy, curtains are in for Alina’s room and basically everything has been organized. Which gives me great peace of mind. Man, I detest an unorganized house. {My own. I totally have no problem if you wish to keep an unorganized home :) }
5. Get ZEN!
In total and complete honesty, I feel like a wild animal these days. At the very least, a domisticated-ish poultry type animal that gets their head cut off before we feast on it. I would love to feel more like a lionness, or even the mother hen who doesn’t get their head cut off. Alas, I’m just the stupid chicken.
The move, the kid, the pregnancy, the holidays, the BUDGET, the everything. I’m just about pooped from all the movement my life has taken the last few months. My true friends know about my focus intolerance and will either help a crazy out, or just flat out ignore me. Either way I am fine with and am grateful for those still around when I can actually pay attention to anything other than my tunnel. Things are coming together and calming down now, and I feel ready to still my mind and prepare for the sweet little miracle we’ve made.
I plan to take baths alot more, read a book, BLOG {!!!} and definetly spend some quality time with my amazing husband. Keep calm and carry on. And have a healthy baby. That’s my plan.
Happy Monday, beloved readers!
