When it comes to vegetables for kids, I believe that you do what you gotta do to ensure a balanced diet. I am not above hiding a vegetable or five into their meals, just so I can rest easy. And although it does take effort, I am a proud mama when my little one slurps down a green smoothie filled with kale and spinach without hesitation. But with preschool approaching, and our lives getting more hectic in general, I worry about my ability to maintain these food traditions and their veggie intake.
To-Go Snacks Made With Vegetables for Kids
So when given the chance to try out these new GoFreshBaby resuable food pouches, I was uber excited. GoFreshBaby food pouches are made of a strong Phylate/BPA Free food grade plastic, making them perfect for fresh organic food purees, homemade fruit smoothies, yogurt treats and more. The leak-resistant double zip seal closure is at an angle to reduce pressure build up and makes it easy to refill with a spoon or funnel. Each pouch has convenient labeling, including a measuring guide, reminder of safety uses and a place to add your child’s name, etc.
We’ve been using our GoFreshBaby pouches for about a month now, and I really love them! Both infant and toddler were able to handle it easily. The food pouches make quick, healthy, to-go snacks so much more feasible. On this particular park date, I filled Sebastian’s pouch with kale that I pureed at home, mixed with store bought butternut squash (check out the complete baby food recipe here). Alina’s was filled with store bought apple sauce mixed with the same butternut squash. I fill the pouches with a spoon, which is easy enough and doesn’t take very long. Also, even with throwing them in my purse, I have never had a leak. The zippers are very durable!
While I take my kids’ health seriously, another huge reason why I love these resuable food pouches is because the alternative is way too expensive for me to consider as a viable long term plan. At nearly $1 for each, organic (or even non organic) premade food pouches are not in our budget. At least not at the rate that my kids eat. So, in addition to being an easy way to feed my kids healthy food, GoFreshBaby is way more cost effective than traditional food pouches. And they make less waste!
I plan to use our GoFreshBaby food pouches for a long time, including when our little girl starts preschool this year. I have so many worries about this next transitions for our family, but figuring out how to get vegetables for kids in schools isn’t one. I love that I could make a green smoothie, fill and freeze the pouch, and it be ready for her to eat by lunch time. Veggies at school will be as easy as throwing it from the freezer to her lunch box! My only concern is that she will lose the cap.
GoFreshBaby was developed by parents with small kids, so they know what real parents are looking for. I love the idea, and so do my kids!
