Transitioning Back To Our Old Routine

If there was one thing Alina missed most during our adventures in California, it would be her Kidville summer camp. Like she does so often these days, she would make a list of the things that made her miss home most. She would say, “Mama, I miss Las Vegas because I miss Kidville. I miss my house and my dogs and my room too”. Poor baby girl.

At first, I felt bad for taking my sweet girl out of her routine for an extended amount of time – even if it meant bonding with her family, Alina very much missed the comforts and familiarity of home. She was truly thriving under the care of Kidville’s loving staff. So when we returned home last week and Alina got thrown right back into our old routine, I wondered how she would handle it all.

When we arrived for drop off last Monday morning, I was informed that the 3 year olds were moved into a different classroom while we were gone. Immediately, I freaked out. This would mean new teachers and new classmates. The Mayor of Kidville, Melissa, was right there to answer my questions and agreed to leave Alina in her old class. The plan was to transition her in with the big kids at some point that week. But, my little smartie pants caught wind of the plans and just moved herself without much ado. Seriously – this kid manages to surprise her overly anxious mama all the time. She did great that day, loves her “new” teachers and we are all back into our new routine at Kidville.

I guess that’s what I love most about Kidville versus the big-box brands. Sure, Alina’s summer camp teachers changed – but they weren’t new people to her, as we see most of the staff there on a regular basis. The environment at Kidville’s Tivoli Village (Vegas) is one of family and friendship. Alina feels loved and appreciated. She’s made friends and is learning how to participate in social settings.

In addition to knowing my oldest is safe and flourishing at summer camp, my favorite part of our summer routine has been hanging out with this little dude. I’ve been slacking on his love letters, but this week we’ll get one for sure…

I’m a Kidville Mom Ambassador and am happy to talk about our experiences. All opinions expressed are my family’s own. If you are a Vegas blog reader, I invite you to check out Kidville in Tivoli Village with us! Right now, they are offering $75 off for all Fall classes – which makes these 3 month classes a STEAL and, in my opinion, a much better value than what you can find elsewhere.
