Tips On Avoiding Diaper Blowouts: Huggies Latino

But why would you refuse to move up in diaper size? Who would endure the stresses of blow outs on purpose? The one piece of parenting advice that has consistently proven true has been this: when they start to have blow outs, it’s time to move up in diaper size. My cousin’s husband filled me in on that, of all people. Sounds logical though, right? But if you refuse to move up in diaper size because you bought, or were gifted, a huge amount of diapers in a particular size and continue to stuff your chunkers into them for the sake of using those diapers up, you can get stressed from those messes really quick!

At not even 4 months of age, my chunky mister is pushing 18 pounds. We use Huggies Snug in size two, although we could have moved up to size three awhile ago. We love our Huggies diapers; they are perfect for us! The “problem” {because when is having too many diapers a problem?} is the nearly 100 size two diapers we still have.

What do you do with the excess diapers when its time to move up in diaper size? Use them! Just follow these simple tips on avoiding blow outs because you refuse to move up in diaper size.

1.} If you hear the engines churning, JUMP SHIP! Hey, you want to work through those diapers anyway. Once that belly starts making noises, or immediately after, change the diaper! Don’t wait a single moment longer. Sure, there might just be a little bit of #1 in there, but to avoid a blow out change the diaper before your little motor boat starts to take off. This tip is paramount in avoiding blow outs and keeping the changing to his diapers only, versus his diaper AND his outfit. And the blankets. And your outfit. Ugh.

2.} Consider moving up a diaper size for night time sleep. My sweet boy sleeps for a 6-7 hour stretch at night, which is great, except when I am constantly waking up to a soiled baby and crib. I am a stickler for efficiency, but I had to give in here. Consider moving up to the next diaper size at night while you are working through your stash during the day. Sometimes avoiding the blow out by giving in is the best decision. Especially before you’ve even had your morning coffee.

4.} Be prepared to laugh and do laundry. Life is a trade-off. If you want to use up those diapers, make sue you have laundry detergent readily available. Blow outs will happen, so try not to freak out. Pretty sucky tip, I know. But in the world of parenting, sometimes you are stuck between a load of laundry and a dirty diaper. Try to laugh it off.

Remember to always let someone else hold him, so if he has a blow out it’s not all over you!

[…] So what exactly is going on with this 7 month old baby? Well, you are 20.6 lbs (90th percentile) and 27.25 inches tall (75-80th percentile). You are wearing a size 9 months in clothes and a size three in diapers, although I think other moms would have you wearing larger sizes in both. You know me, I like to stuff you into smaller diaper sizes. […]
