Crock Pot BBQ Pulled Pork Sandwich for Party Food Ideas

Party Food Ideas for July 4th BBQ

We had one heck of a spread at our July 4th BBQ, including a ton of different party food ideas! My Sister whipped out some ribs and other goodies, Grammy made her amazing broccoli salad and I brought my version of Greek salad and fruit. I also made pulled pork in the crock-pot for the buttery King’s Hawaiian rolls. We had way too much food!

The pulled pork was very simple to make, and after soaking up my marinade for hours, was really yummy too! To make the marinade, you’ll need:
~ Pork Butt or shoulder
~ Brown sugar
~ Tomato paste {about half a small can}
~ Apple Cider Vinegar
~ Worcestershire sauce
~ Blue agave {or honey}, just a bit
~ Seasonings: salt/pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, red pepper flakes
Mix all the ingredients together until it becomes a {bbq} sauce like consistency. Season the pork butt with more salt/pepper, place in the crock pot, lather on the sauce and let the arse go on high for four/five hours. After about that time, pull/shred the pork apart {it should pretty much fall apart} and cook for awhile longer so the saucy yummies gets all caramelized.

After the pulled pork cooled down a bit, I packaged the pulled pork up for transport to Grammy’s house and our 4th of July festivities. We slapped on bar-b-que from our favorite bar-b-que restuarant and called it a sammie!

I took so many pictures yesterday and a proper 4th of July post is in the works! I hope your family had a great day yesterday, filled with yummy food, of course. Let me know if you post any recipes from yesterday; I’d love to check to check them out!
