How I Research Car Seats And The Launch Of Britax’s New G3 Line

I almost could not believe my eyes when reading the press release that hit my inbox earlier this month. Not for the fact that Britax was launching a new line, but by the incredible safety improvements that you can actually SEE on the product. The new G3 Convertible Car Seat line from Britax is available as of July 2012!

If I were buying car seats right now, this is what I would buy. Hands down. But, as the loving parent that you are, you should conduct proper research before purchasing your child’s seat. Since you know your child and their physical needs best, you should do your own research before making the huge decision of which car seat to put your baby in. I conducted hours upon hours of research; comparing brands, then comparing lines, all while taking into consideration MY child’s needs and our family’s budget. I can tell you the weight and height limits on everything I have purchased. I can tell you where to look on your Britax to see if it has been comprised in a car accident. I can tell you where the straps should always be in relation to your child’s shoulders. And I could tell you all this because I took the time to learn it. Here are a few tips on how I research car seats and other things to consider:

Decide on a Manufacturer: Well before I started blogging and became a member of the Britax Latina Advisory Board, I decided to entrust Alina’s safety in Britax because it’s superior level of safety standards that they place on themselves. Sure, all car seat maufactures are held to specific standards of safety. But who sets those standards? People worried about my kid if I got in a accident, or corporate lobbyists worried about their bottom line? I learned long ago that Britax goes well above those levels of standards and that was enough for me. So choosing Britax was easy. But…

Which car seat do you choose? When you are researching Britax’s website and assessing the specifications of the many different car seats, remembering specifications of every single option can get tedious. When choosing Alina’s Boulevard, I relied heavily on Britax’s Fit My Child car seat comparison tool. It helped me compare every specification and feature, on one screen, of many different car seat options at a time. Use this tool to find out what seat gives you what you need, want or what you can maybe do without. But the best tool in deciding your baby’s car seat in your knowledge of your child…

Take note of your specific child’s physical needs. I purposefully waited to buy Alina’s convertible car seat because I wanted to know what kind of body shape she would have. Would she be super tall? Above average weight? Short torso-ed? Alina is slightly above average height and weight for her age, but not extremely, so I knew the Britax Boulevard 70 CS would be a great fit. Actually, Britax had just released the next generation line when I purchased it. I opted for it because of the increased weight limit and Click Safe {CS} feature, which I use every day.

Of course going for a Britax Advocate 70-G3 would cover almost any averaged sized child up to the designated weight limits. And with its new HUGS Chest Pads with SafeCell Technology and EZ-Buckle System, keeping your eye on the safety of your child has gotten even easier.

I am always excited to share my opinions and knowledge with my readers. I receive so much insight and knowledge from the blogs I love too. But, when it comes to your precious cargo, do your own research. I encourage you to visit Britax USA, where the comparison tool can be found. Also, feel free to ask questions on the bilingual Britax Los lleva seguros Facebook page or at @SafeConBritax on Twitter.
